VisCom2: Merch Screenshots

So here are some more screen shots of my workspace. These were 2 more rough concepts for the Smithsonian merchandising campaign.

In the end, I decided to go with a merging of the "Image masked inside the icon" and the Icon creating pattern" concepts.  So here is the workspace for that one. From here I'll just be finalizing the design and working with text. The color choice was inspired from the yellow set of my colored icons. I'll also be printing these and binding them in a book after they go through critique.

VisCom2: Merchandising

So I've created a good deal of the templates and have applied some imagery to them. The concept for them was the title "The Trekker's Tools", focusing on using the icon as pattern, using multiple motifs in the imagery.  I'll definitely have to work some more with it, as well as flesh out some of the other promising titles. But here is my workspace at the moment.

Still have to make the t-shirts and postcard templates.

VisCom2: Everest's Final Phase

So we are ending the icon project with a bang. By using our icons combined with image and text, we are creating new pieces with new meaning. These are going to be set as a hypothetical exhibition in the Smithsonian museum, and we have to create all the advertising and march for the exhibition.

Here are some ideas for possible exhibition titles/ directions to move in:

  1. Into the Unknown
  2. The Nomad
  3. Crossing Continents
  4. The Unplotted Journey
  5. Leaving a Footprint
  6. The Trekker's Tools
  7. Uncharted Territory
  8. Trek
  9. Braving the Elements
  10. A Chilly Fascination
  11. Man vs. Nature
  12. Comrades in Cold
For the advertising, I'll be creating a book and a couple mock ups to represent the advertising campaign. I'm currently thinking about using the following merchanise to represent the exhibition:

  1. Letterheads, stamps, and Postcards
  2. Patches
  3. Posters
  4. Carabiners
  5. Scarfs and Hats
  6. Shopping bags
  7. Street Banners
  8. Billboards
